About Taylor ADR
Overview
William “Zak” Taylor grew up in modest surroundings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The family moved to the country, and he graduated from a regional high school in a farming area. Gifted with a scholarship to Yale, he excelled there graduating Magna Cum Laude (Economics) and winning a University Prize. After College Zak was drafted and served as an enlisted man in the U.S. Army at the end of the Vietnam War. Among other things, he worked as a psychiatric medic. This experience exposed Zak to a wide variety of people and situations. The resulting skill in connecting with people from all walks of life eventually led to him becoming a highly recognized jury trial lawyer.
After the Army, Zak went to Harvard Law School on the G.I. Bill, graduating with Honors and serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. Thereafter he served as a Law Clerk to the highly regarded Shirley M. Hufstedler, U.S. Circuit Judge. Zak has worn many “hats” over his career, associate, Partner, Of Counsel, sole practitioner, Professor, and pro bono lawyer. He has had a distinguished legal career over various settings. He never stopped learning.
Throughout his career he has maintained his Midwestern common sense, values and humility. Zak brings these and his background to his work as Arbitrator, Mediator, Special Master and Peer Review Hearing Officer. He listens. He thinks deeply about the issues and problems to be resolved. He wants to get things right and to help the Parties resolve their issues.
